Patient Survey

Dear V.I.P.P.P.:

Praise the Lord for Eldepryl and Sinemet, and for all of you medics who have worked so diligently and effectively to minimize Parkinson's effects. I thank God for Dr. Neuren, the "Neurologist," who started me off with both pills in a properly chosen minimum dosage that has not needed to be changed yet, for 3 1/2 years. Thanks be to Dr. Bachman who gave me a physical exam this Fall and pronounced the verdict of "No Symptoms" to need a change.

The general public, especially general practitioners, should be better informed to recognize the early symptoms of Parkinson's. I went through a year or two of increasing problems before my Urologist realized I needed to see a Neurologist. Meanwhile I had 3 minor auto accidents due to slowing responses and now have to pay top-dollar for car insurance, but have had no accidents since starting pills.

I appreciate the VIP Program because of its emphasis on positive ways and means to supplement the medication so that the medication is only a factor in combating PD, not beginning and end of treatment.

Gentlemen,

It is refreshing to find a drug company willing to place some of its profits back into a program to benefit its customers.

I read each newsletter cover to cover. I especially appreciate info on treatment developments given without the hype and embellishments that is common with the news media.

One thought I had is that it would be nice if an option was available so that the cash return could be assigned by the recipient to a P.D. foundation.

Keep up the good work.

Paul

I read every article I can find re: Parkinson's Disease, and the most helpful one to me is "Parkinson's Disease - The Complete Guide for Patients & Caregivers" by Dr. Abraham Lieberman and Dr. Frank L. Williams. It answers most any question you may have from A to Z.

Keep up the good work - you are doing a tremendous job! VIP Connections Issue 4 was extremely helpful. Have had "Park" 5 years now and am doing really quite well.

My husband and I teach Bridge every Monday evening to anyone who lives in our particular part of the area. We also teach another card game every 4th Wednesday, and are members of our Couples Bridge Club. We feel this activity helps keep my mind alert and clear. I have an "off" period for about 3 hours in the afternoon and so we go shopping. This gets me out of the house and keeps me from feeling sorry for myself. We do have to use a wheelchair then but at least we can keep "going." My husband is the best caregiver anyone could have. He makes me laugh, even at myself, all the time. You have to keep a sense of humor most of all. Therapy is done every morning also.

I find that I do better by eating. The more vegetables and protein I eat the better I feel. I also find I enjoy my food better without drinking cold or without ice in it while eating. But I could not make it without taking Eldepryl. But I like the tablet better. I am also trying to get more people that I know to check with their doctor to see if the doctor thinks the Eldepryl would help them.

Thank you.

P.S. If I forget to take my Eldepryl for very long, I think of it if I try to write.

John

Dear Sirs:

I am very pleased and encouraged by the way Eldepryl is slowing the advance of my Parkinson's. I started with Eldepryl in June, 1992, and have had no need for increased dosage.

The literature we have received is very helpful for Tom. He has responded well to the Sinemet and Eldepryl treatment. The support and encouragement of exercise was most helpful. He needs to learn he can live better and not quit trying. Thank you for helping on the support side more than anything else.

Really appreciate the exercises that you recommend. I feel so much better since I have been taking part in them. I am much more limber than I was before doing them.

I now feel that I am doing something good for myself!

Thank you.
